Gorge Super D Race this Sunday!

Our annual DH race at the Gorge in Kentville is on for this weekend and as always we've worked hard to bring you a fun and challenging course that has something to offer all riders!

Don't have a DH bike? Don't sweat it! The beauty of this course is that it can be run on any bike. A big bike will be faster in the rough sections while an trail bike may be quicker in others.

Anyone can win this race, it all comes down to rider skill and fitness. The rider who knows how to capitalize on the strong points of their bike and their own riding strengths will come out on top!

Lots of great draw prizes too!!

So heres the scoop on the event...
More about the course: A great mix of terrain, everything from rock gardens to gap jumps!  Technical trail features include a big start tower, roller coaster bridge, A-Frame, gap jumps, ladder bridges, bowl jump, step downs, berms, roots and more.  All the big features will have ride arounds but expect to loose some time and speed by not taking the main line.

Fast times to be well under 3:00, we've been pulling times around 2:45 in pre runs and expect that time to drop on race day.

When: Practice all day Saturday. Racing on Sunday.

Sundays Schedule: Registration will open at 8:30, practice will be until 11:00.  From 11:00 to 11:45 we'll have a lunch break. Riders meeting at 11:45. Race starts at noon, awards to follow.

Fees: Saturday is free but donations are welcome with 100% of proceeds going towards local trail development. Racing on Sunday will run you $25.

Licenses? You will need a valid 2012 race license for Sunday. One event memberships for BNS will be sold on Sunday for $20.

Equipment Requirements: A bike with two working brakes and you must use a full face helmet during race runs. We will have a few extra helmets on site for you to use if you need one. Gloves, shin pads or long pants strongly recommended.

Other important stuff: All riders will need to make at least TWO  practice runs on Sunday prior to their race runs, no exceptions on this. Minimum age to race is 15 at the end of the calendar year. Example, if you are 14 today but you will be 15 in November, then you are good to go! Minors will need a parent or guardian to sign their waiver.
